The founders of Writing.Com have given us all a gift more precious than breathing, for we all know that even the act of inhaling/exhaling comes in a distant second to the act of writing. It's like a bad cold, it's like Ben n' Jerry's newest flavor, or ANY flavor, for that matter... Writing.Com is singlehandedly responsible for my continued efforts to write the Great American Novel, or even just a decent short story here n' there. I've been writing, off and on, for 30-odd years (odd being the key word there), and I have probably produced as much since joining Writing.Com as I did in the previous 27 years. I'm GRATEFUL to the folks at Writing.Com!!!
I've joined this website a month and a half ago by my friend, and found it very intersting. I got addicted to reviewing, and spend most of my time reading and looking at some fun things. This is also the first website I've seen for putting writings on. It's fastinating and useful for my schoolwork as well. I love it.
I like to give a testimonial because Writing.Com can let me express myself online. I've always wanted to be a writer. I would jsut keep my writings to myself and no one else, but me and God. Now I get to express myself in ways I've never imagined. I'm going to high school and when I become a famous author I will never forget Writing.Com.
I've been here one month, and am officially addicted to Writing.Com. I must check in at least twice a day--whenever I have a few minutes, to read someone's short piece, or late at night to peruse longer works. Such a broad variety of writing to choose from! I also receive many encouraging responses to my posted stories (and my first poem!) almost every day, and solid advice on how to improve. This site is one of the best uses for the internet, hands down. And it's free to get started! Thank you for this site!
Writing.Com saved my sanity. I was in the middle of the one of the hardest times in my life and I stumbled across this wonderful community. I was down on my luck and completely alone. The support of other writers gave me a reason to get back out there and fight and gave me something to be proud of myself for. I’m still continuing my battles, with varying success and throughout Wrting.Com, its competitions, groups and wonderful members have been a constant companion, often giving touching sentiment and many unexpected surprises. Thank you everyone.
Thanks to the help I got here at Writing.Com, I made the big time. Well, not the big time, but I have had two articles published in a local free newspaper and an offer to write a column in it. That never would have happened without the helpful citicism and encouragement that the friendly people here gave me. Thank you!
I joined Writing.Com a couple of months ago and absolutely adored what I found. I found a community of people dedicated not only to writing, but also to helping others improve their writing. I was quite scared at first, having not written much of anything, but the acceptance and encouragement I found was awesome. I was so disappointed when I reached the limits of my free membership, I only took a couple of minutes to decide to upgrade and I'm sooo glad I did. I shall certainly be recommending Writing.Com for the top writing website! Thanks to those who keep this great site up and running!
My one month anniversary is coming soon. I'm still peeking into the corners and behind the doors in this mansion. There are so many features to spur a creative mind that I continue to be amazed by it all. Today's discovery was my "summary statistics" page. I am shocked to learn that an average of 75 people read something in my port EVERY DAY! I am pinching myself because I think that this must be a dream. Thank you, Writing.Com.
The support, encouragement, and constructive criticism I've received at Writing.Com is only surpassed by the generous spirit and kindness of the writers and moderators I've come to admire and appreciate. Reviewing has made me more discerning in my own writing and I am consistently challenged to try new forms of expression in my own writing. This is truly a Community, and each day I feel more a member, less a visitor. One year ago today I found Writing.Com ~ a year of growth followed that fateful day ~ in all facets of my life ~ fostered by the fellowship of this community of writers who accept me as I am and encourage me to become the best me I can be. My heartfelt thanks to everyone.
What I believe I love most about Writing.Com is the excellent learning environment that has been formed here. On other websites I have been to, I have often felt that I am exposed to the scrunity of unsympathetic strangers who have published countless novels, as I have not. I felt like my dream of being a novelist was unreachable, and my skill with writing less than inadequate. Then my friend referred me to Writing.Com, and I realized that I was capable of so much more than others had let me think I was. There is such a variety of experience and opinion among the writers and staff here! Whatever your style of writing may be, there will be someone on this site who will appreciate your work and do all that they can to help you improve it.
I joined Writing.Com on October 1, 2005. My cousin Melissa introduced me to this site. I was reluctant at first to join, but I am glad that I did. This place fills a gap in my life that nothing else can. I was never a poet until I joined this website, now I have written a total of sixteen poems since joining. I found a side of me that I never knew existed, and I have Melissa and Writing.Com to thank!
I have only recently started posting on Writing.Com after having been a member for several months. I love how easy it is to post my writings. I love the comraderie of the members. I have interacted with several different people on here and they have been nothing but nice to me and helpful. In my search for a website on which to post my poems and blurbs, I have come across many where the other members were rude, discourteous and at times downright hostile towards me. Thank you for creating such a wonderful site. Keep up the good work. And to all the members out there that are helping out us Newbies~~~THANK YOU!!!!
A friend told me about Writing.Com about a year or more ago. I thought it was a "nice" idea, but already had an online blog on another site. I wrote poetry there but never got the kind of input I was seeking. THEN...I bit the bullet and joined Writing.Com. I don't enjoy change but this was painless! I have gotten great reviews on my work, read wonderful items of all sorts, but also made so many wonderful friends. I've been blown away by the generosity and helpfulness I found here when I was a "newbie". And you know what? There's no where else on the web I'd rather be! Thanks, Writing.Com!
Within the few weeks that I've been on Writing.Com, I have learned a lot from other writers. The comments are very helpful and I love the idea of being able to interact with other writers freely.
If Writing.Com were human, I'd give it a big hug and a kiss! I thought I wouldn't find the perfect site for my writing. This site made my creative juices flowing!
I can't believe how much this site has helped me. After discovering it on Google and joining up the same day, I was amazed at the enormous selection and variety of tools that can assist a new writer. Just being in the community was a great help for me, because I needed reviews to send with my book to publication. Since then, it's been difficult for me to get offline (my family constantly teases me!), and my port's grown to many items. What else can I say, except... THANK YOU, Writing.Com!!
This is heaven-sent to me. I've been serarching for ways to improve my writing skill, now I finally found it. In a few months' time, I am able to enhace my skill, make more stories, write about what I really think, without fear of not being noticed. I also gained some confidence because of this. Now, I think I can write the world.
As someone whose interest in writing has been recently rekindled after many years, I have found this site to be invaluable in every way imaginable as a writer. The reviewing process, and participation in it, are encouraged at every turn. I am learning, and having fun here every day. So come on in, and see for yourself. You won't regret it!
I have always wanted to write, but never felt able to. I suppose that I lacked the confidence to write and present my work to anyone. Since joing Writing.Com, I have gained a confidence in my ability that I had no idea existed. I now direct my friends and fanily to the site, so that they can see my work and that of others. Initially, I loved the anonymity of it, now I just love that there are other people who share my passion for words. Thank you so much!!
I want to say that joining Writing.Com has helped me to further myself to acheive my goal. My goal in life is to publish poetry to help other girls. Thanks.
How did I live without Writing.Com? I honestly do not know! I've only been a member for a few days, but I can't walk away from my computer! I'm constantly checking my Inbox to see if anyone has reviewed any of my work and sent me comments. I can't get anything done around my home because of my involvement with Writing.Com! I have received wonderful, helpful, and constructive criticism of my writing which, has spurred me on to actually take that step to submit my work to a magazine for publication. Everyone that I have had even the slightest bit of contact with has been so wonderful! Thank you Writing.Com and thank you to all of the authors who have helped me improve my work. I honestly don't know how I lived without all of you! Now I have a 'willing' audience to read my work. I don't have to bribe, cajole, or threaten! How nice is that?!
I have been on Writing.Com for about a month and I'm addicted. I have loved writing ever since I could and now I'm writing many stories. On Writing.Com I get helpful comments and feel even better about my writing. This is one of the greatest websites in the world!!!
I have been on Writing.Com for nearly nine months, and I think that in that time, I have learned so much more than I ever would have if I had not joined. When I first started writing, I began with a story called A Memory Too Many. I have been rewriting it, and when I put the two side by side, I can barely tell that they are the same story. I would like to thank each and every person on Writing.Com for helping me and encouraging me to stay here and write. Writing.Com is like a second home to me. I have more friends online than I do in real life. Thank you!!
I just got done posting a few writings today. I haven't found anything as much fun in my whole life than on this website. This gives me a chance to see what people think of my writings and my strong points and weak points in my stories. I am very happy that I have the chance to show everyone my stories.
A little over a year ago, I moved away from family and friends, to a new city and a new life. For the first time since I was five, I did not have the structure of schools and extracurricular activities. I was starting anew, a bit sad to leave all I did behind, but curious to see what the future would bring, hopeful that I would be strong enough to see my fate through. A little over a year ago, about a month after I moved, I tried looking for an on-line community that wrote interactive stories. I remembered surfing “bulletin boards” when I was a teenager – on the boards, members could play interactive games and write interactive stories. I was addicted to IM in college, but I wanted more interaction from others who liked to read and write. The very day I stumbled across Writing.Com, I became a member. I was excited about the site, and kicked myself for not searching for it years ago. I found campfires and interactives – just what I wanted – plus a host of other ways to interact with authors and get feedback on my writing. Within a few days, I signed up to be a premium member. Although I spent a lot of time learning the ropes of the site, I did not want to write a testimonial right away. What if something horrible happened – like I found out that the members were mainly snotty jerks, or that the StoryMaster and StoryMistress did not really care about the needs of the site? A year passed. One or two less-than-gracious members crossed my path, but most members seemed down-to-earth, funny, and very interested in cultivating their craft…whether that means writing a novel, winning the most scroll games, or scrutinizing the site to find good reads and ways to reward writers. The site encourages basic courtesy from all members and has a rating system. Members are very approachable and are willing to follow the rating guidelines. When I am not at work, I am often online, keeping busy by writing stories, adding to campfires, and judging site contests. My family renewed my subscription for my birthday, and I can finally say that the trial run is over: I am (officially!) glad to be a member of Writing.Com. Thanks SM and SMs for making such a well-organized, interesting, creative site. And thanks to all the members I have “met” for being invigorating, classy, fun people. I plan to be a part of Writing.Com for quite some time to come. If you like to read, write, and/or interact with a wide variety of people, I highly suggest you join this site!
